Mens jewelry

Guys you have to go check this website out.

The two brothers from Texas.

Hunter and Logan, with their progressive brand,  are creating a name for themselves as artistic and cultural designers. They have combined today’s technology-music “mash up” way of life and the “cool kid on the street” as inspiration for their jewelry line. The collection is inspired by some of today’s most captivating recording artists. Hunter and Logan's collaborative design techniques delicately balance the use of silver or a combination of gold, diamonds and various precious metals.
In 2007, Hunter and Logan developed the collection’s initial concepts and designs while living in various parts of Asia and Australia. The urban culture throughout these continents was the brothers’ main source of inspiration. They spent two years testing out various factories to finally land themselves with the same production team as the top designer, Stephen Webster. This season’s collection represents their separate and shared life experiences and creativity.
As the brand develops, it will stay relevant with today’s music, technology, and culture.

"The music never stops and neither will we…"

Im very new to blogging as you might see..But ill get there.

Patron SILVER Launch with LOLAVIE

http://www.claytonmorar.com/blog/post.cfm/patron-silver-launches-in-cape-town

I attended the Patron Launch with my friends Une Lottering ,Dene Botha and Jessica Ambrose.

Une has just started her own clothing line called-
  Lolavie♥

Fresh, funky, free spirit is what lolvie brings to you.
A new line from the london look is hitting Cape Town an its hitting hard!!

Have a look at the lolavie facebook group.
Arriving at the Design indaba was not as easy as I thought. I had to drive around for about 10minutes trying to find parking and when I eventually did it cost me R30.
I walked into the convention centre and saw a lot of people fairly young all walking around with orange lanyards hanging around their necks.
Passing a very long coffee line I found the ticket sales. Unfortunately I didn’t have my student card on me so I had to pay another R60 rand to enter.

I bumped into Kate Stanton just before entering and she made me even more excited to enter. I got some fancy stamp and walked in.

BOS definitely first caught my eye and I walked to see what they were displaying.
I took some pictures and and read some of the comments and stuff people had written on their design. I thought it was an awesome design.

Then I went to look at Carla Botosso who makes finger styled carpets. By her stand she had a bright yellow board that read a very important line, which was that buying one of the carpets would help ladies from Mozambique against HIV/AIDS and social depravation. So I bought a carpet as a donation to these woman. Have a look on their sight at www.mescla.dk

PG Bison also grabbed my attention as it looked like a little play ground. It drew attention and I was very curious to see if the pieces were a puzzle and what they said.
I then found out what PG Bison is. It is a subsidiary of Steinhoff International, manufactures and distributes sawn timber, poles, wood-based panel products, decorative laminates and solid surfacing materials. To find out more you can visit-http://www.pgbison.co.za/
At the “WE ARE FARMING FOR FUTURE” I came across what I thought was an amazing quote and I want to share it with everyone.

It goes like this- The world we’ll find ourselves in tomorrow depends on what we do today. Our good Business Journey is about the many things we’re doing differently and the new ideas we’re putting in practice, which will make a real difference in our communities, our country and our world.”

The jewelry part was also amazing and I saw a lot I loved. Everything was very creative and interesting. The space was separate and a good end to my walk through.

My favorite part of the entire Indaba was walking in to Stefania Morland’s amazing fashion show. It was very smokey but what I could see was amazing. I have worked with her and her daughter on a fashion show before and found her clothing very confusing and not something I could see a teenager wear. Well after that show, my mind changed completely. I loved every single garment. The range was stylish, sexy, dark, very fashionable, wearable and everything I would love to have in my closet. Winter leather jacket that’s a must have too.

*BABETTE*

I was lucky enough to get Barbara Lotter to answer a few questions about her new label."Babette"

Babette interview:

So you studied a design degree .Tell me about your degree and what you made?

I studied at Elizabeth Galloway , a fashion design school in the mountains of Stellenbosch. Finished in the year 2009 with a international citianguilts diploma of creative arts and fashion.. We made all kinds of stuff my end of year range was called NEON NOTES. and was based on oversized hoods check fabrics, neon colors and bold prints "you know, back when neon was still big :) "

What inspires you most as a designer and buying?

Nature !!!and the people we love and even those we don't , I draw inspiration from what I feel and the amazing multi cultural world we live in today.

Tell me about your new brand?

Babette clothing is the name of my new clothing line it is based on the new age of  Vintage we live in.
I hand pick original vintage dresses and they get altered to be wearable today. Each dress is unique in everyway.
Babette is also the French variant of the my name Barbara meaning Beautiful stranger.... Unknown Visitor....

When did you start Barbette?

August 2010

How often do you travel abroad ?

About every 4 months.
Where can we find your amazing items?

I Supply MeMeMe in Cape Long Street, Lilly boutique in stellenboch but mostly do markets all around South Africa one of my regular markets is the "you,me and everyone we know market" at he Labia on Orange and the next big one is the Toffie culture festival 2011 please follow my blog and facebook page to keep updated where to find Babette next , babetteclothing.blogspot.com "

What is the price rage?

Dresses range most at R280 and them some R560.

What advice would you give a fashion newbie or student, looking to become a designer?

Believe in yourself and brush anyone off that shoots you down. If fashion is you calling, you just need to stick it out and your path will unfold and you will find your way just have faith and work hard.

What is the most difficult aspect in launching your own label, i.e. design, production, sales, finance, advertising?

Well to take the first step ,just throwing everything you have in your idea not knowing for sure if its going to work yet is a very scary thing and then I would say advertising getting other people to love your label as much as you do and getting your name out there is very hard work.

Beach day*

Last week friday Fedisa had a creative sand building beach day.
We had to create a sand sculpture, based on a fashion -orientated theme.
We all got allocated into 14 groups with 1,2 and 3rd years  combined.
We got together with some students we have not met before and we made the day fun.We all came up with our different ideas and started building our sand sculptures.
We are still waiting to hear who the winning team is but as soon as it is announced i will put pictured up.

We work hard at Fedisa

We are all very happy as we handed in our 140 designs today. We had to design 140 designs and then chose 9 final designs which will hopefully be going down the runway in our 2011 end of the year Fedisa fashion show.

I took some pictures of a few of our students working very hard on their ideas.
