Kim Humphries.

As we all know Kim Kardashian had her wedding last night and we are all dying to see her Vera Wang wedding dress.
I have been searching the net but have only come across these pics. Not showing her gown.

Kim wore an ivory Vera Wang and the bridesmaids wore ivory . Kim's was a strapless gown with a fitted bodice, a traditionally-cut tulle skirt and a super long train, according to E! Her shoes were Guiseppe Zanotti and her hair was in an up-do, topped off by a jeweled headpiece and veil.

Garment number 6

This week i have been working on a new garment. We have two weeks per garment and I finished cutting out yesterday so today the sewing starts.  I am working with a beautiful pink printed chiffon ,but actually cutting and sewing this fabric is hell.

It takes a lot longer and all my seams have to be done as a "french seam".

Printed chiffon
I am sewing today and hoping to finish the skirt part of my dress. I will post pictures of my process soon.

LILLY BIRD

http://www.lilybird.co.za/

We have been busy every day doing things from sewing on buttons,grading/cutting/marking patterns, we went to the CMT where they delivered patterns and showed us how they work.(Very different to us:)

We had a talk where they explained how their company works and all the different departments and how they got to where they are today.(They shared as much as how scary their first meeting  with YDE was)

What i love a lot about these labels is that their garments are 70% South African produced and only 20 % could be out sourced Internationally. This is a rule YDE is very strict with.

This is just a brief overview but i will keep you all updated on my every day experiences.

Have to go to bed.I HAVE SOME LEARNING TO DO TOMORROW:)

Seeing a lot of our students are having mock interviews tomorrow and we are spending the day there,i decided to take a few seconds to just browse through their site and grasp a few important tips & facts i might find useful.

TRUWORTHS BRANDS-
"The theme is simple...it's all about fashion. This straightforward concept is a powerful reminder about what Truworths is all about – fashion." (Annual Financial Statement)

DO
  • Ensure you know what position you are applying for and understand the requirements for the position.
  • Remember to find out the name of the person you are meeting for an interview and confirm the location of the interview.
  • Try to be as flexible as possible which regards to the time and location of the interview.
  • Plan enough time to get to the interview on time but don’t arrive too early.
  • Dress appropriately. Truworths is not a very formal environment and it is not necessary to wear a suit, however it is also inappropriate to be very casual. Remember first impression last!
  • Do your research! Truworths website contains a wealth of information about Truworths brands and “sub-brands”, annual financial reports, services offered.
  • Be constructive when asking questions – remember that an interview is also the opportunity for you to assess if the company is the right place for you.
  • Reflect on your previous experience and use examples of real situations that you have been in to illustrate your competence
  • If you are applying for Store Management have you visited the store you have applied for?
  • Visit some Truworths, Uzzi, Identity and YDE stores. Regardless of the position you are applying for the end point will be in store, where the business makes its money!
DON'T
  • Don't swear, argue or be personal in an interview.
  • Don't criticise past employers.
